The House Overlooking The River, Bambolim

A split-level family home built on a hillside with a commanding view of the Zuari river-mouth. The building's design and material palette blend into the hillside and take advantage of the slope of the site. Large openings frame views of the river, and a skylit courtyard brings light to the interior and enhances cross-ventilation. Solar panels on the roof generate enough electricity to power the entire house, and a large rainwater-harvesting tank in its basement stores enough water to ensure that its gardens and green roof are well-supplied with water around the year.
