Umbra House, Salvador do Mundo

A low-rise four-bedroom house facing a beautiful field view. The house blends contemporary minimalism with vernacular traditions, and is centred around two open-to-sky courtyards.

 

Load-bearing basalt and laterite masonry are used, along with reclaimed wood and lime plaster. Large openings face the pool and the open fields beyond, making the house light and airy.
